Moodbidri: Teachers do not merely teach a generation; they shape the direction of its life. The lessons imparted within the four walls of a classroom lay the strong foundation for the society of tomorrow. By infusing wisdom with knowledge, giving wings to talent and shaping character with values, teachers are the true architects of a brighter future. The Teachers’ Day celebration, held as a tribute to these architects of tomorrow, is a meaningful expression of gratitude and an important occasion for students, said former Karnataka Minister and Honorary President of Excellent Education Institutions, Abhayachandra Jain. He was speaking as the chief guest at the Teachers’ Day celebration held with enthusiasm, dignity and meaning at Excellent Education Institutions, Moodbidri.

He said that the life and ideals of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the eminent teacher, philosopher and former President of India, should inspire every student. A teacher is not merely a person who teaches from textbooks, but a sculptor who recognises the hidden talent in every student, provides the right direction and moulds a strong personality. Students should understand the dignity of the teaching profession and the importance of education through the life of Dr. Radhakrishnan, respect the guidance of their teachers and grow into responsible citizens, he said. On the occasion, Bhaskar Hegde, retired Head of the MCJ Department, SDM College, Ujire; Harish Shastri, Lecturer in Physics, Vivekananda College, Puttur; Niranjan A., Lecturer at a Government Pre-University College; Vincent, Principal of Sharada Residential School, Udupi; and Poornima, Headmistress of a Government High School, Belthangady, were felicitated. Responding to the felicitation, the honourees said that teaching is one of the most responsible professions in society and that teachers must nurture not only knowledge but also humanity, discipline, self-confidence and social responsibility among students. They emphasised that academic marks alone do not define success; a questioning mind, the desire to understand subjects deeply, scientific thinking and sustained hard work are equally important. They advised students to set clear goals, make effective use of time and transform the guidance of teachers into stepping stones towards achievement. The true purpose of education, they said, is not merely to secure employment but to create individuals with noble thoughts, strong values and good character. They also inspired students to recognise their potential and move forward with confidence, assuring them that no goal is beyond their reach with determination and perseverance.
