Moodubidire, October 6, 2026: Personality development, social responsibility and the spirit of service are the main objectives of the National Service Scheme (NSS), said former minister Abhayachandra Jain. Speaking at the inauguration of an NSS annual special camp at a school in Moodubidire, he emphasized that NSS is not merely about organizing camps but about shaping students into responsible citizens through service-oriented activities. He stated that participation in NSS helps students develop discipline, leadership qualities, teamwork, social awareness and a sense of responsibility towards society. He encouraged students to make meaningful use of the opportunities provided through NSS and actively participate in community development activities.

He further highlighted the importance of education combined with social service, noting that students should develop a willingness to serve society and contribute to the welfare of the community. The programme was attended by educationists, NSS coordinators, school representatives and other dignitaries. The speakers appreciated the role of NSS in nurturing socially responsible and well-disciplined young citizens. The programme concluded with a call to students to uphold the values of service, unity, discipline and commitment to society.
