Moodbidri, July 30: Education is not merely a means of securing employment; it is a powerful force that shapes an individual's character, leads society, and lays a strong foundation for national development, said Mrs. Rashmitha Jain, Secretary of the Excellent Group of Educational Institutions. She was presiding over the inauguration of the Commerce Association for the academic year 2026–27 at Excellent Science and Commerce PU College. Addressing the students, she emphasized that they should not limit themselves to scoring marks alone but should cultivate values such as punctuality, honesty, discipline, leadership, and social responsibility. She stated that commerce is not only about earning profits but also about building trust, upholding ethics, and practicing humanity. Students who develop these values during their academic years will grow into successful entrepreneurs as well as responsible citizens, she added. The Chief Guest, Mr. Padmaprasad Jain, proprietor of Saroja Food Industries and Vardhaman Fabrication, encouraged students by highlighting the immense career opportunities available in the field of commerce. He urged them to achieve success through hard work, self-confidence, and innovation. The Guest of Honour, Mr. Aneesh Jain, an alumnus of the institution and proprietor of Nagalakshmi Coffee Works and Traders, shared his experiences as a student and said that success is certain when one's goal is clear. He remarked that failure is never the end and that dedication, perseverance, and single-minded commitment lead to great heights. He also appreciated the Commerce Department of Excellent PU College for its ability to nurture future entrepreneurs. The Principal of the college, Mr. Pushparaj, conveyed his best wishes and expressed hope that the Commerce Association would serve as an effective platform for the overall personality development of students. Mr. Mahaveer Jain, co-proprietor of Saroja Food Industries and Vardhaman Fabrication, was also present on the occasion. The dignitaries were felicitated with saplings as a symbol of respect and environmental awareness. The programme was attended by Mr. Prashanth Shetty, Head of the Commerce Department, faculty members, students, Mr. Chiranth V. Kumar, President of the Commerce Association, and other office-bearers.
